The Ferrymen Bow OutIt was a rocky union at best from the start. The Ferrymen struggled internally to keep up with the demands of what the Alliance represented, what the Alliance required as a cohesive working group. To be honest. They just didn't have what it took. They tried. You can give them that. They tried, but in the end, they failed. Is this rhetoric or a continuation of this paper's seemingly nihilistic ass kissing of more Unholy Alliance propaganda? It's up to you which you choose to believe. The Ferrymen are an old and established clan. They will survive even this and they will do so with the aplomb and honour that they have continuously shown this city over the many years they've been an institution within these dark streets. But will glory really be theirs again? That is debatable, hugely debatable. Okay, it's probably never going to happen. Given this new move in their decision to sever ties with the Unholy Alliance it is highly doubtful. Where will they go now? Whose umbrella will they shelter under now that they have distanced themselves from the biggest damned umbrella in this town. They're certainly too small, too disorganised and too internally strife ridden to strike an intimidating figure on their own. If this author were to speculate she would sadly confirm for avid readers that The Ferrymen are ripe for the killing. Anyone with half a brain, a smidgen of a grudge and not a little chip on ones shoulder would look to this clan and realize that they are horribly, terribly weakened by their state of un-Alliance. Too small and undermanned to believably fight an opposing force if it did come along. Will Heorot come back to the table and welcome the Ferrymen and reinstate that Alliance of old? Who knows. After being summarily dismissed by the Ferrymen last year it is assumed that it would take a fair amount of sweet talking and maybe Jean DeVenn playing on the old affection of his ex-wife to see it happen. That would be fun to see considering Jean DeVenn mentioning not a few times his relief about being well rid of the conniving female. There are many clans out there. So who knows what will happen, what new alliances will be made. It is all pure conjecture at this time anyway. If delicious conjecture. I will give The Ferrymen one thing though. If they don't get killed by a clan who sees them as fodder for the taking while they're weak. And even if they do. They have this intrinsic ability to bear up to what is thrown at them, laugh in the face of death, danger and adversity and remain as they have always been. And that is one of the oldest, respected and honourable clans in this city. This too will pass and The Ferrymen will remain. In the end, what other clan can boast that. So many have faded and so few remain as solidly as this one. The Ferrymen Will be done. Or not. Then again, SIE, RoR, EoE & HoR and the Ferrymen might kiss and make up. They may be kissing right this minute and slapping each other on the back, grinning and letting this bygone be gone. What do you think the odds of that is? Yeah. Me too.
