Trees, Coffee and DuelsYour word. Perhaps one of the most important thing any vampire can hold true to. Agree to do something and then renege on that agreement is likely to have unpleasant consequences. Such consequences are now showing themselves in the form of a duel challenge from Lord Galamushi to Damari. To satisfy my own curiosity, I sought out Damari to ask her exactly, as she sees it, what is going on. She's known far and wide for her bitchy remarks, her sometimes direct, sometimes subtle ways of speaking and in general possessing the knack of worming her way under the skin of others. Not necessarily a bad thing. That is unless you happen to be on the receiving end of her displeasure. The dispute between Galamushi and Damari began when Damari spoke out quite vehemently over Lord Galamushi allowing his Ent servant to enter a public hall and call for a war of like minded servants. Things grew heated and during the course of Damari expressing her distaste for Lord Galamushi's perceived actions, the two came to an accord when he initiated a private conversation with Damari. According to what Damari has said, their discussion of ways to end this dispute ended with Lord Galamushi agreeing to state publicly that his servant acted wrongly and that he'd spoken to other Ent Masters, indicating that an agreement was made that the Ents would cease their harassment of Damari and her establishment. She stated that on two occasions he said he would make this public statement but it was never forthcoming. If this is indeed the case, Lord Galamushi stated in private that he would do something, and then failed to do it, thus furthering the verbal battle, adding fuel to fire. No one in this city can say they enjoy being lied to. Damari is no different and she has stated exactly that, much to the obvious displeasure of Lord Galamushi. His solution when she resumed her verbal stance against his actions-throw out a few bits of name calling and rashly request a duel. With that information, one has to wonder exactly what it is that Lord Galamushi hopes to achieve with this duel challenge to a vampire that only wants him to keep his word to her. Will he own up to his actions? Will he press his case further with this duel business and use the old worn out 'You're a coward if you say no' line? If Lord Galamushi sees fit to answer my private request for an audience, perhaps we will get his answers on these questions as well as his side of the tale. Until then....Good luck to both parties in hashing this out. |
