Bile Inspiring NewsIt is interesting I think to see the different newspapers that have popped up in the last few years. They’re pale creatures with gaudy trappings, that flap around touting a desire to be bastions of free flowing ideas. When in reality there is very little ideal logy in evidence. It’s also interesting to note that very little investigative articles are written. They don’t express opinion or give view point. They’re more like, social rags where the masses go to see and be seen, but in a newspaper with words and quips rather than physical presence. It seems to me that the city has changed. We are challenged not by physical intimidation but by a more visceral form of emotional warfare. Where we used to banter and parry in antiquated meetings houses they are now run in anonymous fashion on forums where you’ve erased any requirement to meet toe to toe with those you oppose. These newspapers publish deaths, births, marriages, engagements in wild abandon. Pulling the gnat sized attention span denizens into their publications with bile inspiring news as apathetic as who fucked who, who left who and who could give a shit and then giving all those who trawl these establishments a chance to say. “Congratulations”. It’s what vampires apparently want. It’s apparently all they need. There is no need for investigative articles that ponder onerous questions like “Can Yggdrasil and The Republic Be Unseated” or “What is Hells Angels doing now anyway” or “Can Satori’s Return Herald Much More Excitement Than Ho Hum?” and maybe even the diabolical question of “What the Hell IS the Masquerade.” What use could anything of such vein accomplish when you have such edifying insipidness as ‘Majica lost another childer.’ Now THAT is news. I’m not bemoaning the fact that vampires have so little curiosity or ambition. In fact I find it a rather entertaining testament to the value they place on themselves and what they know. So here I am pondering what to do with The Grimoire. I’m not really an investigative reporter. I don’t pretend to be bipartisan and fair. But be damned I’m a damned sight more concerned about this city and what it’s doing than who has managed to sever, bind, unsever and potentially sever to whom. Aren’t you?
