Scroll of SummoningScroll of Summoning Being a Sire is a full time occupation. Not only is it for an eternity (well, unless you count the revolving Hall of Severance door), but you’re rather stuck with creatures who live forever. It’s a large decision to gather the dearies under your banner and it takes just as much work to nurture them, protect them, induce them to give you things, as it does to make the decision to kill them, or maim them. Lets be honest, there are more reasons than love or adoration to Sire a vampire. More often these days it is a purely tactical decision and the weight of respect is balanced by the fact you can use the Scroll of Succour in battle to minimise resources, pare back the need for Teleportation Scroll use and all round good sense. It is little wonder the familial make up of some clans reads like a Kentucky backwood banjo players reunion. Incestuousness when you’re speaking in terms of strategic clan movement for war time is an accepted norm. I saw this new scroll from our omnipotent God and wondered at it and I also wondered at the potential uses of it. How can this be applied, not on in a personal perspective, but also in a clan one. Being the dedicated reporter that I am I immediately investigated this new thing. So, cost wise, looks like it’s about 1500 if you have shit all Charisma. I got it for about 1300 at a normal Scroll Works, but you can probably hold out for a Discount Sale and get them cheaper. But for this purpose I just splurged the extra little bit just to get them and try them. Good choice. You'll not find a better Scroll of Summoning anywhere. With my new Scrolls in hand I set off for a less populated part of the city and called all my babies to me.
Ahhh joy it is. There is something of a power trip inherent in this Scroll. A certain zing of gratuitous control you exert over these beings who have entrusted themselves into your care. Granted, my childer knew full well, my care was obviously never going to be gentle and kind but this scroll, used with impunity could very quickly teach ones little buggers lessons in taking to heel when the chain is pulled.
Damari says "That’s us, family meeting over. Kiss kiss. Buss buss. Go away now, but don’t forget. Monetary donation to the Damari Fund is always appreciated. Ta rah!" Ahh yes, gratuity in action. Joy I say. Now, for a moment let us put aside the personal aspects of this scroll, because lets face it, we can find a million and one ways to torture your little ones as I have just done. Many many ways. But it’s not just about that is it? If this scroll were to be merely used for the potential of Sires to yank Childer chains then the buck would stop and this scroll would lose any value. The truth is, there is a strategic application here and it’s just a matter of sitting back to look at it from that perspective. We have a scroll, that can pull Childer to you. How can this be applied. In war time, succour is the fastest more efficient way to move if you have Sire and Childer in a clan, so I don’t see Summoning changing that. But, can it move a childer to you in a time of war, to get them out of danger. Swish, out of harms way, exhaust enemy supplies and conserve childer energy? Maybe, just maybe, there is something in that. The strategy being, mess with your enemies’ head. Something I relish with reckless abandon. I love all new things. I love the fact we have a God that still thinks about us enough that we get these inventions for whatever reason he creates them. As any tool it can be used for ill or good, depending on the intention of the vampire using them. And as is the way of this city, you can bet we will find a way to make a use of it that will benefit ourselves. And it’s a beautiful thing. Have fun with your scrolls. I don’t see myself torturing my childer that often. Unless of course I feel the need to gold and then I can just call them and ask them nicely to give it to me. Cause I’m a good Sire that way.
